State of Michigan Awards MBA $1 Million Grant from Revitalization and Placemaking Program

Published Thursday, May 8, 2025

The Midland Area Farmers Market has long served as a community gathering place, truly a destination, drawing thousands of residents and visitors each season to support local growers and small businesses.

This potential project presents a transformative opportunity to secure a long-term, purpose-built home for the market—one that not only honors its over 75-year legacy in our community but also elevates its role as a vibrant public space in the heart of Midland. This investment will allow our team to design infrastructure, improve accessibility, and create spaces that enhances community programming, economic vitality, and connectivity.

We are truly grateful to the State of Michigan and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation for its award of a $1 million Revitalization and Placemaking (RAP) grant, which allows the creation of the Midland Area Farmers Market project to progress. “This is a commitment to preserving and strengthening a cornerstone of our community,” said Tony Stamas, President & CEO of the Midland Business Alliance. “Securing a permanent home for the Midland Area Farmers Market ensures it continues to be a gathering place, an economic driver, and a symbol of what makes Midland special for generations to come.”
