Midland, Michigan - The Midland Business Alliance launched a $3.9 Million project to renovate the 11,400 square foot Carl A. Gerstacker Commerce Center with a ceremony held Monday, May 15, 2023. This building renovation is possible through generous support from the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation. The Gerstacker Commerce Center was constructed in 1996 to replace a smaller building that stood directly on the corner of Rodd and Buttles Streets. Its name honors the memory of Carl A. Gerstacker, former chairman of the Board of The Dow Chemical Company and Midland philanthropist who passed in 1996.
“The renovation will provide the Midland Business Alliance a great opportunity to serve the business community and enables us to continue to be a catalyst for growth. As a Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development organization, we serve as Midland County’s comprehensive business hub alongside our partners at CBM Services and MITCON.” Said Tony Stamas, President and CEO of the Midland Business Alliance, “We want to express our sincere gratitude to the Gerstacker Foundation for their commitment to these renovations and look forward to welcoming everyone into the renovated facility after the completion in 2024.”
The goal of this building renovation is to amplify the client atmosphere with an inviting lobby and reception area while providing added security to the building. To help increase building usage, the currently unfinished lower level will be transformed into a centerpiece meeting room space. In addition, the project includes a new finish color and the addition of wood panel accents to the exterior of the building, improved building function with the installation of a new HVAC system and site upgrades for storm water management.
As Midland County’s comprehensive business hub, the Midland Business Alliance serves over 3,000 businesses from Fortune 500 companies to start ups. Services in our building will be periodically impacted throughout the renovation process but we will diligently update on any service impacts on all of our communication platforms. We appreciate the generous support of the Rollin M. Gerstacker Foundation, the MBA Board of Directors, and our great partners at Three Rivers Corporation!
