Community Crowdfund Presented by MYPros

Hear from our 2024 steering committee why they believe the Community Crowdfund is such an important mission of MYPros.

One of the most meaningful ways MYPros supports the Midland community is through our annual Community Crowdfund. Launched in 2019 in partnership with the Midland Area Community Foundation, the Community Crowdfund empowers young professionals to support small, local businesses with bold goals and big community impact.

Since its inception, the Community Crowdfund has generated over $270,000 in support, fueling enthusiasm and positive change throughout Midland. Past recipients include Pizza Baker, Aviator Cookie, Grove Tea Lounge, Aster, Three Bridges Distillery & Taproom, Nor’East Outdoors and Allied Group Fitness. Each participating business must apply and clearly outline how their project will energize the community and spark new connections. To qualify for full funding, the recipient is required to raise a set amount through a crowdfunding campaign, which is then matched through earned interest from the Midland Area Community Foundation’s Impact Investing Committee.

We’re proud to share that our 2025 project, Downtownsend, successfully reached its goal and was fully funded!

Downtownsend, an initiative to revitalize an entire block of Townsend Street in downtown Midland, was created and led by Brandon Morey, owner of Crepes Et Amis and Iron Dame. The project will also benefit neighboring businesses Bookmarks and Mr. Moustache Phone Repair.

Stay tuned for ways to support and get involved in this transformative community effort.

Applications for the 2026 Community Crowdfund will open on February 6, 2026.

2025 Crowdfund

Thank YOU for helping us bring Downtownsend to life—a French-inspired outdoor gathering space in Downtown Midland with pergolas, terrace seating, and a “Love Fence.” Led by local businesses and selected by MYPros, this young professionals-backed crowdfund raised $26,754 and unlocked $35,000 in matching funds from the Midland Area Community Foundation. Your support will help us transform this tucked-away corner into a vibrant, memory-making destination.

Grub Club:  A casual lunchtime networking event held on the second Wednesday of every other month from 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. This is a great way to begin connecting with other young professionals, while also supporting local restaurants.

Unwind: A casual evening networking event held on the second Wednesday of alternating months from 5–7 p.m. Unwind offers young professionals a chance to relax after work, build connections, and enjoy local restaurants or recreational activities.

Think Tank: A quarterly, small-group professional development event hosted at the Midland Business Alliance. Think Tank connects young professionals with experienced leaders for guided conversations, advice, and Q&A related to their career or industry. A small registration fee applies.

Quarterly Luncheons: Each quarter, MYPros hosts an educational luncheon focused on topics relevant to young professionals. Attendees enjoy a meal, networking time, and a panel discussion followed by a Q&A session. Two luncheons each year are regional events held at the Dow Tennis Classic and the Dow Championship. Registration fees apply.

Regional Events: Several times a year, MYPros hosts regional networking events open to members of the Saginaw, Bay, and Mount Pleasant young professional networks. These events offer expanded networking opportunities and the chance to connect with professionals across the Great Lakes Bay Region. MYPros members are also invited to attend regional events hosted by partner YPN groups.

How do I get more involved?

Easy! MYPros relies on the committees and volunteers who make the program successful. We’d love to have your talents on a subcommittee!

  • Steering Committee
Provides strategic oversight for MYPros programming, represents MYPros at events like WakeUp! Midland, and acts as ambassadors to grow the program and retain talent.
  • Events Subcommittee
Helps coordinate and plan MYPros events throughout the year. From networking mixers to unique community experiences, this team ensures each event is engaging, valuable, and well-attended.
  • Crowdfunding Committee
