“I fell in love with this area,” Robb said. “It had everything I was looking for—community, opportunity, and a great place to raise a family.”

That realization led Robb Boerner to plant roots in the Great Lakes Bay Region—and eventually launch his Robb Boerner-State Farm Insurance Agent agency in Midland in 2017.
Originally from outside the area, Robb’s journey brought him to Ferris State University, followed by work in Mount Pleasant and then Midland. He eventually bought a home in Sanford and knew he wanted to stay.

“I’ve always been in industries where I could help people,” he said. “So when a friend suggested I meet with a State Farm agent about their Aspirant Program, it just clicked.”
The program allowed Robb to learn the business from the inside while deciding if it was the right long-term path. After two years in the mentorship program, the opportunity opened up for him to take over an agency. But instead of inheriting an existing book of business, Robb launched a completely new office in Midland—starting from scratch.

“We didn’t have any clients when we opened,” he said. “We chose Midland because it’s where we wanted to live, raise our family, and build something meaningful.”

Today, Robb’s office includes a growing team of licensed agents serving the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond. For him, the most rewarding part of the work is helping clients through life’s hardest moments.
“You’re there when they’ve had a loss, and you get to walk them through the recovery,” Robb said. “That’s where the impact is—you help someone rebuild, and you see their life start to come back together.”

As the agency grows, so does its mission. Robb is focused not only on insurance, but on meeting the broader financial needs of his customers.
“A lot of people want one place for both insurance and financial services. That’s a growing concern, and something we’re positioned to deliver.”

He added:
“When customers win, we all win.”

Robb’s values align closely with State Farm’s “good neighbor” ethos—but it’s also something he lives out personally.
He sponsors fire safety education kits for local schools and donates materials to the Midland Fire Department to support awareness around lithium-ion battery safety, smoke detectors, and more. He’s also actively involved in Neighboring Week, the MBA Ambassador program, the Midland Noon Exchange Club, and serves on the board of Home To Stay.
“Sometimes it’s visible and sometimes it’s behind the scenes,” he said. “But whether our name is on it or not, it’s about doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.”

That quiet commitment didn’t go unnoticed. Robb was recently named one of Midland’s Top 30 Under 40 professionals—a surprise recognition that left him humbled.
“I didn’t even know I was nominated until a friend sent me the article,” he said. “It reminded me that the impact we’re trying to make really is making a difference.”

As a longtime MBA Ambassador, Robb credits the organization with helping him build relationships, stay informed, and expand his impact.
“Whether it’s Leadership Midland, MYPros, WakeUp! Midland, or just the people you meet through those programs—it all keeps you connected,” he said. “The MBA helps you stay plugged in to what’s going on and how you can be part of it.”
He also loves helping newcomers find their place.
“As an ambassador, you get to share what’s great about this area. When people move in, I can tell them what’s happening, where to go, and how to get involved.”

Eight years after opening his agency, Robb still remembers his first ribbon cutting—and the one that followed after purchasing his own building.
Now, he’s focused on continued growth and team expansion.

“The Great Lakes Bay Region has so much opportunity,” he said. “We’re lucky and blessed to help serve the community with their insurance and financial services needs.”
